HAWQI Welcome

The Hawkeye Area Water Quality Initiative seeks to increase awareness of water quality issues in Eastern Iowa in large water bodies such as the Coralville Reservoir and the Mississippi River and smaller bodies such as the small stream or farm pond in your back yard. The scientists and engineers associated with HAWQI are also active in performing research in areas such as predicting pathogenic organism levels in beach waters and determining the fate of herbicides, pharmaceuticals and personal care products in surface waters and drinking water treatment facilities.
